WEICON Aluminium Paint

Overview

WEICON Aluminium Paint can be used universally on all metallic surfaces. It offers good protection against corrosion and is also used to touch up components. On contact with moisture, the aluminium pigments form a dense, almost impermeable oxide layer on the surface, up to 0.05 microns thick, which prevents further moisture penetration. High abrasion resistance and a long colour guarantee come from so-called non-leafing pigments, which distribute evenly through the whole coating and protect it against abrasion and chemical effects once thoroughly hardened. The data sheet lists aluminium pigment (D50 16 microns, about 99.5% purity), an alkyd combination binder, about 32% metal content in the dry film, a spreadable texture, a processing temperature of +18°C to +30°C, a minimum layer thickness of 20 microns, consumption of about 150 ml/m2 at that thickness, no hairline cracking in the mandrel bending test and a temperature resistance of approximately +300°C. Minimum shelf life is 12 months. Surfaces should be cleaned and degreased and the paint applied by brush or roller within one hour of pre-treatment.
