Isopropanol (IPA) 99.9%

Overview

Isopropanol (isopropyl alcohol, 2-propanol, CAS 67-63-0) is a colourless, water-miscible alcohol solvent. Typical published producer specification for the 99.9% grade: purity 99.9 %m/m min (GC), water about 0.03 %m/m max (ASTM D1364), density about 0.785 kg/l at 20°C (ASTM D4052) and colour below 5 Pt-Co (ASTM D1209); limits vary by producer and lot. Typical physical data: boiling point about 82°C, flash point about 12°C (closed cup). Typical uses include precision and electronics cleaning, degreasing, coatings and inks, extraction, hygiene and cleaning formulations and as a chemical intermediate. It is highly flammable (UN 1219, Class 3), causes serious eye irritation and may cause drowsiness; keep away from ignition sources, ground containers and ensure ventilation.
