Acetone 99.5%

Overview

Acetone (propanone, CAS 67-64-1) is a colourless, fast-evaporating, water-miscible ketone solvent. Typical published technical-grade specification: assay 99.5 wt% min (ASTM D329), water 0.5 wt% max (ASTM D1364), colour 5 APHA max (ASTM D1209) and specific gravity about 0.791-0.793 at 20/20°C (ASTM D4052); limits vary by producer and lot. Typical physical data: boiling point about 56°C, flash point about -20°C (closed cup). Typical uses include cleaning and degreasing, thinning and dissolving resins, polyester and epoxy, paints, coatings, inks and adhesives, and as a chemical intermediate. It is highly flammable (UN 1090, Class 3): keep away from heat, sparks and open flames, ground containers, use in well-ventilated areas, and avoid contact with eyes (serious eye irritation) and prolonged inhalation (drowsiness). It attacks many plastics and rubbers. Some jurisdictions monitor or control acetone, so buyers may be asked to declare end use. Please request the producer certificate of analysis and SDS through the RFQ.
