Overview

3M Scotchrap Vinyl Corrosion Protection Tape 50 (all-weather corrosion protection tape) is a 10 mil (0.25 mm backing, about 0.3 mm total) black PVC-backed tape with a high-tack rubber adhesive, used for corrosion protection of metal piping, conduit and fittings above and below ground. The product page highlights a service temperature range of -55°F to 176°F (-48°C to 80°C), resistance to corrosion, impact, abrasion and puncture, and high resistance to UV rays, soil acids, alkalis, salts, chemicals and varying weather; the flexible PVC backing provides mechanical strength and electrical insulation. 3M lists adhesion strength of 20 oz/in (21.9 N/100 mm), elongation at break of 200%, an electrolytic corrosion factor of 0.9, a 5-year shelf life, an installation temperature range of 10°F to 150°F (-12°C to 65°C) and compliance with VDE 0340 Part 1 and RoHS 2011/65/EU.
