Monoethylene Glycol (MEG) 99.9%

Overview

Monoethylene glycol (ethylene glycol, 1,2-ethanediol, CAS 107-21-1) is a colourless, practically odourless, low-volatility, hygroscopic liquid. Typical published polyester-grade specification (Petronas product data sheet): MEG 99.9 wt% min, diethylene glycol 0.05 wt% max, water 0.05 wt% max, colour 5 Pt-Co max and iron 0.1 ppm max; antifreeze/technical grades have lower purity requirements, and limits vary by producer and lot. Typical physical data: boiling point about 197°C, flash point about 111-116°C, density about 1.11 g/cm3. Typical uses include polyester fibre and PET resin manufacture, engine coolant and antifreeze, heat-transfer and de-icing fluids, gas dehydration and chemical manufacture. It is harmful if swallowed and can cause kidney damage; it is sweet-tasting, so keep out of reach of children and animals and never use it where it could contaminate food or drink. It is generally not classed as dangerous goods for transport. Please request the producer certificate of analysis and SDS through the RFQ.
