Soda Ash Dense (Sodium Carbonate)

Overview

Soda ash dense is sodium carbonate (Na2CO3, CAS 497-19-8), a mild alkali supplied as a white, free-flowing granular powder that is heavier and less dusty than light soda ash. Typical published producer specification ranges: sodium carbonate 99.2% min (ANSAC), 99.5% min (Tata Chemicals) and about 99.6% (Solvay), sodium chloride about 0.04% max (Tata) to 1,000 ppm max (ANSAC), sodium sulfate up to about 2,000 ppm max (ANSAC), and a bulk density of about 0.89-1.12 g/cm3 (56-70 lb/ft3, depending on producer) with most material retained on a 100-mesh screen; limits vary by producer and lot. Typical uses include glass manufacture, detergents and cleaning products, water treatment and pH adjustment, metallurgy and general chemical manufacture. It is an eye irritant (causes serious eye irritation) and is generally not classified as dangerous goods for transport, but the producer SDS should always be followed and eye and dust protection used. Please request the producer certificate of analysis and SDS through the RFQ.
