Caustic Soda Pearls 99%

Overview

Caustic soda pearls are solid sodium hydroxide (NaOH, CAS 1310-73-2) in small, white, free-flowing beads. Their uniform shape gives easy handling, dosing and fast dissolving compared with flakes. Typical published producer specification ranges for the 99% grade: NaOH 99.0% min, sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) 0.3-0.5% max, sodium chloride (NaCl) about 0.015-0.05% max, iron as Fe2O3 about 0.001-0.005% max, with typical pearl size about 0.6-0.9 mm; limits vary by producer and lot. It is hygroscopic and absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide from air, so containers must be kept tightly closed. Typical uses are soap and detergent manufacture, textile and dye processing, water treatment and pH adjustment, pulp and paper and general chemical manufacture. It is corrosive (UN 1823, Class 8): it causes severe skin burns and eye damage and dissolves in water with strong heat; wear chemical-resistant gloves, face shield and protective clothing and follow the producer SDS. Producers commonly pack pearls in 25 kg bags. Please request the producer certificate of analysis and SDS through the RFQ.
