WEICON Thread Sealing Cord DF 175

Overview

WEICON DF 175 is a patented thread sealing cord made of 100% PTFE that seals almost all metal and plastic threads permanently and safely. It compensates the gap between the threads and creates a PTFE film of the required thickness during screwing; the film is extremely resistant to almost all chemicals, even the most aggressive solvents, caustic agents and acids. It is non-flammable and works reliably from -200°C to +240°C. Unlike sealing materials where a fabric is only the carrier for the actual sealant, the cord itself is the sealing material, so base material and sealant cannot separate over the life of the connection. WEICON states it is durable for an unlimited period, stays permanently soft and elastic and is very economical: one roll replaces up to 20 rolls of PTFE tape (12 mm x 0.1 mm x 12 m). The data sheet lists an unlimited (infinite) shelf life. Degrease and clean the parts first (for example with WEICON Surface Cleaner), wrap the cord in the same direction as the thread starting at the head end of the pipe, apply 2-3 drops of the supplied lubricant and spread it with a finger; the lubricant is harmless and biodegradable and must not be used with liquid oxygen. Supplied as a 175 m roll.
