WEICON VA 1403 Cyanoacrylate Adhesive

Overview

WEICON VA 1403 (Contact series) is a cyanoacrylate adhesive for special requirements with high viscosity and a longer curing time, odourless and with little to no blooming. It is less susceptible to moisture effects after curing and is suitable for the clean and visually appealing bonding of various materials in numerous industrial applications. According to the data sheet it is alkoxy-based, a colourless clear liquid that stays colourless after curing, silicone-free and hydroquinone-free, with a viscosity of 1,100-1,800 and a density of 1.1 g/cm3, and it bridges gaps up to 0.2 mm. Initial adhesion is about 60 seconds on untreated ABS, about 4.5 minutes on sandblasted aluminium and about 5 minutes on rigid PVC (23°C, 50% relative humidity), with final strength after 24 hours. Typical shear strengths (DIN EN 1465) are 15-18 MPa on sandblasted steel, 9-12 MPa on sandblasted aluminium, 5-7 MPa on untreated rigid PVC, 6-10 MPa on untreated ABS and 5-8 MPa on polycarbonate. Temperature resistance is -50°C to +80°C, briefly up to +100°C. Bonding surfaces must be clean and dry, the adhesive is applied to one surface only (0.05-0.2 mm layer), and WEICON recommends a relative humidity of 40-70%, with CA Primer for difficult plastics and CA Activator for slow cure. The minimum shelf life is 9 months at room temperature and 12 months at +2°C to +7°C; supplied in 12 g, 30 g, 60 g and 0.5 kg.
